Udoka didn't respond to Mr
Robinson's condolences but kept
smiling. Her heart never departed
from the wife whom she didn't
know how she would react if she
sees her.
"Have a seat" Mr Robinson told
Udoka.
"Thanks" she replied and sat down
with David.
"Dad" David began. "Sorry you
weren't able to meet me at home the
last time i came?"
"Yeah, your mother told me about it
and also the girl you came with"
Hearing that, David and Udoka
glanced at each other.
"Where is she?" David queried.
"She went to her mother's in her
hometown, Ndiuko" the father
replied. "Though she'll be back
before evening" he added. Just then,
Udoka's heart began to beat faster.
"Well, we came to see Ugonma"
David stood up. He stretched his
hand to Udoka who grabbed it as
she stood up too.
"She's in her room" The father said
then concentrated on the news
paper again.
:
Ugonma sat on a chair with a book
when she heard a knock at the door.
She wore a loosed transparent pink
gown. She had managed to weave
her hair thereby exposing her real
beauty. Just as she stared at the
door, it gently opened.
"David!" Ugonma stood up and
hugged him. She looked at Udoka
who stood behind him and said, "I
guess she's Udoka"
"Yes, she is" David stepped aside
smiling. His sister looked at him in a
way that shows: YOU HAVE EYES.
"Please to meet you, Udoka"
Ugonma gave her a quick hug.
"Please to meet you too" Udoka
smiled.
"Come in and make yourself
comfortable"
"Thanks"
As the two girls moved to the inner
part of the room, David excused
himself. He went back to his father in
the sittingroom who had always
encourage him as a father.
Immediately he noticed David's
presence, he closed the news paper
again.
"How are you coping with finals
school activities?"
"Fine, Dad. I will almost be through
before this year runs out"
"That's good. I can see you have the
spirit of becoming a man in you" the
father smiled.
"Dad?" David smiled too. "I'm
already a man"
"No, son. You can't stay under this
roof then call yourself a man.
Moreover you've not given me a
grandson. Why i said you have the
spirit of becoming a man is because
you've started bringing women
home"
David couldn't help it but to laugh
out loud. His father never ceased to
amaze him and he had always been
in support of whatever he does that
is of good as a boy at the right time.
"So son.." the father continued.
"Which of these girls can make you
the man you want to become?"
"Dad, all girls can make a man a
man" David replied.
"Yes, but definitely you aren't gonna
marry all the girls, are you?"
David kept smiling. "Of course not,
Dad"
"So, who's the girl among all the
girls?"
"Is a secret, Dad"
"I see! Secret man to be" they
laughed.

Mrs Robinson was on her way back
from Ndiuko. She had met Mr Caleb,
Sandra's father, who she told how
accidentally she came in contact with
his daughter.
"Now you can see what i told you
years ago is about to happen. David,
my son, found your daughter and
that's is a good sign that they will be
together. I'll make sure of that" Mrs
Robinson had told Mr Caleb who at
the same time became happy.
Back to David's resident, Udoka had
presented gifts to Ugonma and
interacted with her too. It was such
a perfect match coz both loved each
other even before they met
physically. They sat on the bed
facing each other.
"There was a girl David came with
the other time" Ugonma began.
"Sandra?" Udoka added.
"Yes, David told me how she
threatened you. Never to worry. I
know how to deal with people like
her" Ugonma concluded while
Udoka smiled broadly. "Let me get
to the kitchen to prepare something
for you"
"No, u can't" Udoka prevented.
"Why?"
"Coz you're just recovering"
"And so what?"
"Okay, let me help you" Udoka
stood up. Without saying a word,
Ugonma walked to the wardrobe,
brought out a cloth and stretched it
to her. "Change to this" she said.
With a smile, Udoka took the cloth
and changed up immediately.
:
The two girls were in the kitchen
while David and the father
concentrated on a T.V. programme
in the sittingroom. After few minutes
Mrs Robinson arrived. She stared at
the car packed outside beside her
husband's thinking that it was
Sandra's which activated a smile on
her face. She tied two expensive
wrappers traditionally with a
voluminous head-tie. She hurried
into the house just to see David and
her husband.
"Welcome, mum" David greeted.
"David, you never told me you'll be
coming home. I guess Sandra is
inside" the mother said.
Hearing that, the husband glanced at
her without a word.
"Mum, i didn't come with Sandra"
David replied.
"Then who did you come with?"
"With Udoka"
"The twin?"
"Yes, mum. They are in the kitchen"
Instantly Mrs Robinson frowned. As
she wanted to rush into the kitchen,
her husband called her back saying,
"Come back here, woman! So
Sandra or whatsoever you call her is
much more important than me that i
can't even receive a greeting from
you anymore, okwa ya"
Already, Udoka had heard their
voices from the kitchen thereby
increasing her heartbeat..
